TORONTO, October 3, 2018 – Defending dash-winning champion Eurico Rosa Da Silva padded his meet-leading win total with a pair of five-win race days during the final week of September. With 154 victories so far this year at Woodbine, Da Silva holds a 30-win lead in the jockey standings ahead of Rafael Hernandez. A 20-time stakes winner, Da Silva also leads all reinsmen for earnings with his mounts having banked more than $5.5 million in purses. Norm McKnight has sent out 85 winners through the first 89 days of the meet in his quest for his second straight training title at Woodbine. McKnight is back on top with seven more victories than Mark Casse, whose stable has amassed a chart-topping 16 stakes triumphs and more than $4.3 million in purses. Bruno Schickedanz remains atop the leaderboard among owners with more than double the wins of his nearest competitor. He has watched his horses win 45 races at the current meet, while Stronach Stables and Chiefswood Stable are tied for second with 21 victories each. The latter is the top money-earner having accumulated more than $1.4 million in purse earnings and five stakes titles, including the Grade 3 Bold Venture most recently in mid-September courtesy of Yorkton. Pink Lloyd, reigning Horse of the Year trained by Robert Tiller, is currently the winningest horse of the meet with five stakes wins while the Casse-trained Queen’s Plate champion Wonder Gadot holds court as the richest horse of the meet with more than half a million earned while racing at Woodbine this season.
