The responsibility of Manager, Partnership, Groups & Events Sales is to be an ambassador of the Woodbine brand and all of the company’s unique experiences that are available to consumers. The responsibilities include lead generation through proactive research, outreach, networking and client entertaining that ultimately drive new corporate events and partnerships to Woodbine. The Manager is also responsible for maintaining and building relationships through purposeful communication to keep clients up to date with promotions, events opportunities and experiences Woodbine is offering.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

•Manage and develop strong relationships with key customers, agencies and associations to ensure drive revenue for the Partnership, Groups and Events business. 
•Be proactive and think outside the box with locating and developing new business
•Have full product knowledge and ensure all opportunities are taken to promote product lines to existing and new customers while increasing the client base and maximizing sales
•Be aware of the key trends in the market and make appropriate recommendations, while taking  appropriate action to achieve department’s targets
•Participates in regular strategy meetings and to help develop new programs and initiatives that are designed to further maximize sales 
•Work with sales team and Sales Coordinator to organize Group and Event Sales promotional initiatives
•Ensure timely communication of required meeting/function details to operational teams.  Ensure all bookings are followed up for appreciation, feedback and re-booking agenda/opportunities
•Coordinate all sales bookings to ensure accuracy, optimal use of space while maximizing revenue opportunities 
•Be present to meet and greet customers as appropriate 
•Participate in the planning and execution of networking/promotional events on premise or at external sites and entertain prospective clients where appropriate as required
•Be pro-active in putting forward new ideas to achieve the department’s targets
•Deliver against pre-determined  Key Performance Indicators (KPI)
•Encourage and foster an open and creative forum for all team members
•Identify training opportunities that correlate with the growth of the department
•Work alongside other departments to continuously create and promote guest experiences
•Continuously look for opportunities to convert corporate event sales into longer term partnerships and work closely with Partnerships Snr Manager/Head of Partnerships to develop relationships that can drive additional revenue or marketing value. 


JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge
•Knowledge of group functions and banquet/catering operations 
•Knowledge of Hospitality and Event sales process 
•Knowledge in PC business applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
•Knowledge about Ontario Horseracing and Pari-Mutuel betting an asset
•Knowledge of cuisine & wines/beverages is required
•General to advanced knowledge of Newmarket Delphi, Guestbridge, Volante POS systems an asset

•Superior communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
•Ability to work independently, in a team, and meet deadlines
•Ability to prepare proposals and profit analysis documents
•Ability to develop effective working relationships with internal and external parties

Education and Experience
•Diploma/Degree from recognized College I University
•Recognized course in Hotel/Restaurant Administration l Management an asset
•A minimum 4 years proven experience in a similar or related position (e.g. Special Events Management, Conference or Convention service coordination, Destination Management
