{"id":2620,"date":"2020-05-18T14:16:22","date_gmt":"2020-05-18T18:16:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/woodbine.com\/corporate\/?p=2620"},"modified":"2020-05-18T14:16:22","modified_gmt":"2020-05-18T18:16:22","slug":"161st-running-of-the-queens-plate-scheduled-for-saturday-september-12","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/woodbine.com\/corporate\/2020\/05\/18\/161st-running-of-the-queens-plate-scheduled-for-saturday-september-12\/","title":{"rendered":"161st Running of The Queen\u2019s Plate Scheduled for Saturday, September 12"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TORONTO, ON \u2013 Monday, May 18 <\/strong>\u2013 On Victoria Day, a day in which Canada honours Queen Victoria, Woodbine Entertainment is pleased to announce that The Queen\u2019s Plate will remain as the longest continuously run Thoroughbred stakes race in North America.<\/p>\n<p>The 161<sup>st<\/sup> running of The Queen\u2019s Plate will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe history of The Queen\u2019s Plate is so rich and the fact that it\u2019s been held every year since the inaugural race in 1860 is remarkable,\u201d said Jim Lawson, CEO, Woodbine Entertainment. \u201cWe are honoured to be able to continue this rich history in face of adversity by hosting the race for the 161<sup>st<\/sup> consecutive year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The $1 million stakes race was postponed this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It was originally scheduled to run on Saturday, June 27.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, Woodbine\u2019s 2020 Thoroughbred meet is scheduled to open without spectators on Saturday, June 6.
