Listenlindalisten hears the cheers in Passing Mood

August 2, 2017

TORONTO, August 2 – Listenlindalisten and jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva took the lead early and turned aside all challengers to win the $125,000 Passing Mood Stakes for Ontario-sired sophomore fillies on Wednesday night at Woodbine.

Originally scheduled as a turf event, the Passing Mood was moved to the all-weather Tapeta surface following an early evening downpour at the Toronto oval. Listenlindalisten won the seven-furlong event in 1:23.50 for trainer Mark Casse and Conrad Farms, who had just finished celebrating a stakes victory this past weekend in the $125,000 Royal North Grade 3 Stakes won by Jennifer Lynnette.
Leaving from the outside post six in the Passing Mood, Listenlindalisten crossed to command and led the field through fractions of :23.39 and :46.56 with Silver Princess (Rafael Hernandez) tracking in behind before launching her attack turning for home. Listenlindalisten fought off that rival past three-quarters in 1:11.07 while the 2-5 favourite, Silent Sonet (Luis Contreras), looked for racing room in between the top pair down the stretch. Meanwhile, Fresh Princess (Patrick Husbands), who was last on the final turn, charged late to finish just 1-1/4 lengths behind the winner. Silent Sonet settled for third.
"It was a very easy pace for her," said Rosa Da Silva of the front-end trip aboard Listenlindalisten. "I believe this filly will have no problem if there’s a pace to run at, she will relax. But, I saw the opportunity for her to be very relaxed on the front end with no fighting and she was very comfortable. I think she benefitted from that.
"She’s a very strong filly. She looked good and had a very strong stride. She was there to win today. She was very focused and I’m very proud of her."
Listenlindalisten, who has hit the board in all four of her career starts this year, earned her second win and first competing against stakes competition following a third-place finish in the $125,000 Ontario Damsel Stakes on July 1. The Court Vision-Queen Ofthe Dawn filly’s earnings soared over the $100,000 mark.
The stakes victory was part of a multiple-win night for Rosa Da Silva, who is currently the meet-leading rider at Woodbine.
"It’s very early. We haven’t hit the half-way mark yet and I’m just going to work, work, work," he said. "I’m going to try even harder this second half of the season."
Sent postward at odds of 8-1, Listenlindalisten paid $19.20, $7.90 and $3 across the board. She combined with Fresh Princess ($9.30, $3.90) for a 6-3 exactor worth $170.30. A 6-3-2 triactor (Silent Sonet, $2.10 to show) paid $169.45 and a $1 superfecta of 6-3-2-1 (Silver Princess) returned $330.90.
