Breathing Fire

Sweet treat
Canadiansweetheart, at 36-1, pulled off the upset in Saturday’s Sweet Briar Too Stakes. It was the eighth career triumph and first stakes crown for the 3-year-old daughter of Ransom the Moon. Renico Lafond trains for owner Kris Manohar. Leo Salles mapped out the winning trip.
Fit for a King
War Bomber (IRE), under Rico Walcott, fended off a stubborn foe in Treason to take Saturday’s $200,000 (G2T) King Edward Stakes. Owned by Bruno Schickedanz, the son of War Front-Sun Shower (IRE) now has seven career victories from 19 starts. The 5-year-old was bred by Coolmore.
Railbird
Airosa, with Rafael Hernandez in the irons, found daylight along the rail, and rocketed home for an impressive win in the $125,000 Catch A Glimpse Stakes on Sunday. The dark bay daughter of Uncle Mo-Mrs. Hudson is now 2-0-0 from three starts for trainer Kevin Attard and owners X-Men racing 3, StarLadies Racing, Madaket Stables LLC, and SF Racing LLC.
Worth repeating
“At the end of the day, you’ve got to let the horses talk and don’t get too cocky. I had a clean break, I let him do what he likes to do best, and he just enjoyed the running. I asked him to get over on his right lead and he was just gone.” – Jockey Patrick Husbands, who guided Paramount Prince to victory in the 164th running of The King’s Plate.
