Ontario Racing is responsible for directing breed improvement programs, setting an annual program of races and purses, attracting new horse owners, building a fan base, and connecting the industry with government and the general public. Ontario Racing serves as the voice of the province’s horse racing industry and works closely with the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation towards the integration of horse racing into OLG’s gaming strategy.

A wholly owned subsidiary of Woodbine Entertainment Group, Ontario Racing Management executes the mandate of Ontario Racing and supports the vision of the Board of Directors and Horse Improvement Program Committees, including the world class Ontario Sires Stakes program .

OVERVIEW:

Reporting to Ontario Racing’s Senior Manager, Horse Improvement Program Administration and Governance, you will be the key source of information for the province’s Standardbred horse people and racetracks, answering questions, collecting fees and keeping the database up to date. Your goal will be to deliver outstanding customer service, maintain orderly financial records and promote Ontario’s best Standardbred racehorses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Customer Service: The information hub for the Ontario Sires Stakes program, you will answer questions from participants across North America, racetrack staff members, board and committee members.

Finance Management: Distribute the payment forms, collect and deposit the cheques, remit the taxes and keep an eye on the program budget in cooperation with the finance team.

Information Management: Keep the database up to date, track program statistics, create the annual schedule and ensure eligibility of each Ontario Sires Stakes horse.

Marketing and Promotion: Working with the marketing and communications team, deliver outstanding Championship events; prepare, edit and distribute annual program guides; facilitate the annual host racetracks meeting; update the website.

The skills we’re looking for:

  • Outstanding customer service delivered by telephone, email and presentation

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel

  • Strong attention to detail and familiarity with data entry

  • Understanding of basic bookkeeping/accounting

  • Commitment to learning about all aspects of the OSS program

  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
