Reporting to the Senior Manager, Broadcast Technology, this position is a part of the Broadcast Technology team responsible primarily for ensuring the continuity, maintenance and support of broadcast and audio-visual environments, productions, and other operations at Woodbine Racetrack, Woodbine Mohawk Park, WEGZ, and across Woodbine Entertainment’s properties.  This group also supports the underlying technology behind our online, social, and content distribution. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Troubleshooting, installation, maintenance, and support of broadcast, audio-visual, and associated IT equipment
  • Maintenance of the organization’s CatDV digital video archive system including maintenance and planning for hardware and software upgrades, process maintenance and improvement and storage, capacity and workflow management
  • Maintenance and support of our AVID Media Composer edit suites and graphics design suite and associated storage, hardware, and software systems
  • Recommending procurement of software and hardware required by the Broadcast department and to the organization for AV, displays, PA audio, signal distribution, boardroom technology, graphics, and signage displays as required
  • Key role in providing input into facility designs, layout, equipment recommendations, and continual improvement 
  • Responsible for network infrastructure design and provision of network connectivity as required by the Broadcast department
  • Coordination of data feeds as required to feed on-screen graphics, signage, and other display systems
  • Maintenance of corporate digital signage system, hardware, and software for existing installations and configuration, installation and maintenance of new installations
  • Support with tactical leadership the day-to-day operations of Broadcast Technical group
  • Lead the team by example, to exhibit, encourage and motivate WEG’s Values and Beliefs

Job Specifications

  •  University or college degree/diploma in a field related to Television, Broadcasting, and/or Broadcast Technical or the equivalent in education and experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years in a broadcast technical setting
  • Experience in Broadcast Production/Operations is an asset
  • Flexibility is required as the business is conducted during the evenings/weekends/holidays
  • Advanced knowledge of broadcast technical standards as well as online streaming and social media video distribution
  • Advanced knowledge of computer-based broadcast systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of IT networking and PC hardware
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of digital video archive design, configuration, functionality, and file-based broadcast workflows
  • Intermediate knowledge of broadcast graphics operations and support
  • General knowledge of broadcast production techniques
  • Proficiency with PC-based computer software applications, including MS Office Suite
  • Advanced organization, verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced problem solving and troubleshooting skills required on a regular basis
  • Ability to work both independently, lead projects, and part of a team
