Purpose:

Accountable for the coordinated planning, organizing and development of activities to provide a safe and healthy work environment. Accountable for the integration of all Health, Safety and Wellness policies and programs to minimize and ultimately eliminate all workplace illnesses, accidents and occupational diseases (Woodbine and Mohawk locations).

Accountabilities

  • Ensure compliance with federal, provincial and local OHSA, WSIB legislation

  • Corporate policy and program development relating to Health, Safety and Wellness

  • Tracking and reporting on all workplace injuries and illnesses

  • Partnership with the business relating to Health & Safety activities and programs

  • Develop and lead the workplace Mental Health Strategy and initiatives

  • Develop Board facing reports and tracking

  • Program development and delivery based on risk assessments of current operational practices

  • Liaise with regulatory bodies, insurers, and 3rd party vendors as required

  • Support return-to-work programs in coordination with the business and P&C

  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging hazards and changes in legislation

  • Manage and work with various stakeholder groups across the organization

  • Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee and related activities

Requirements

  • BA in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science or a related field
  • CSRP, CHSC or equivalent certification is an asset
  • 5+ years of professional experience
  • Strong knowledge of relevant H&S legislation & standards (OHSA, WSIB)
  • Experience conducting audits, inspections & investigations
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Proficient in MS Office and Safety Reporting platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to respond to issues during off-hours, including evenings, weekends
  • Possess a valid Driver’s license
