THIS IS A FIXED TERM CONTRACT POSITION

JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Manager, the Supervisor of Greenwood will oversee the day to day operational requirements of Greenwood Champions and to assist the Manager in meeting short and long term departmental goals. Key objectives will include budgetary goals, staffing and labour controls, wagering targets, identifying opportunities within our current processes and most importantly, ensuring exceptional customer service as we bring horse racing experiences to our guests and wow them with our hospitality.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead by example, to exhibit, encourage and motivate WEG’s Values and Beliefs

  • Monitor and maintain a safe and welcoming environment for our team members and patrons of Greenwood.

  • Train and assist all Hospitality Attendants and Player Service Representatives in all aspects of the operation.

  • Organize and control staffing schedules and payroll through our Kronos system.

  • Appraise and monitor performance of personnel and conduct performance coaching when required.

  • Ensure that the Liquor License Act and Government regulations are adhered to and correct/record any deviation.

  • Assist in recruitment and hiring of team members.

  • Maintain food and beverage costs at optimal levels.

  • Various administrative tasks including but not limited to auditing and balancing sales data and preparing for submission to Finance.

  • Monitor the planning and organizing of efficient preparation and production of food and beverage.

  • Monitor the presentation and display of food products, menu boards, OLG products and race programs.

  • Monitor the quality and quantities of all food and beverages served in the stand and bar.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS

Knowledge

  • 3 years experience in an office and/or food service environment.

  • General knowledge of accounting procedures and processes.

  • General knowledge of food & beverage industry.

  • General knowledge of the horse racing industry is an asset.

Skills

  • Basic knowledge of Volante POS System, Kronos.

  • Prior work experience in a Pari-Mutuel environment an asset.

  • General computer skills in a Windows environment.

  • General communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are required to interact effectively with all levels of staff.

  • General ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment

Education & Experience

  • Certificate or diploma in Business Administration or Management and/or equivalent work experience.

  • Prior certification in WHMIS, Food Handling and Smart Serve an asset.

Work Conditions

  • Normal office environment where there is little physical discomfort due to temperature, dust, noise and the like.

  • Regular interruptions and multiple demands.

  • Standing walking at different intervals, some lifting (under 9 kg approximate) may be required.

Salary: The target hiring salary range for this position is $45,000 - $54,000 annually and pro-rated to the length of the contract. This range is not a guarantee of compensation. Final placement within the range depends on factors such as internal equity, market conditions, and the candidate’s experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
