MILTON, August 6, 2019 – Woodbine Mohawk Park is proud to host the fourth annual “Drive with us for Evan’s Legacy” fundraiser this Saturday evening (August 10). Evan Leversage became well known in October of 2015 after his hometown of St. George, Ontario presented the 7-year-old with an early-Christmas parade. Evan had been batting an inoperable brain tumor for five years and had wished to see another Christmas. Unfortunately, Evan did not make it to Christmas and passed away in December of 2015. Evan’s mother, Nicole Wellwood, and family launched Evan’s Leagacy, a foundation to raise money for research into childhood cancers and brain tumors. The funds raised by Evan’s Legacy, are being directed to research into pediatric brain cancer. This project is in its early stages as Dr. Michael Taylor and his team at SickKids in Toronto continue their ground-breaking childhood brain cancer research originally funded through a 2014 grant with Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada Woodbine Mohawk Park will again host the Evan’s Legacy team on Saturday evening for a fundraiser.
