MILTON, August 21, 2018 – Geoff Gaskin will be one of many extreme athletes taking to the air this Sunday (August 26) during the Krusher Stunt Show at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The 32-year-old from Montreal, Quebec is one of Canada’s top professional Freestyle Motocross riders and has been traveling the world performing in high profile events, including U.S. Monster Jam Shows and Supercross Races. It comes as no surprise that someone of Gaskin’s ability didn’t just fall into his profession by accident. “Ever since I was a little kid I jumped pedal bikes all the way to dirt bikes,” Gaskin said in a recent phone interview. “I’ve always been someone that liked adrenaline, even though when I was a little kid I didn’t know what adrenaline was, but I felt the rush.” Geoff Gaskin is ready to wow the crowd this Sunday at Mohawk Park’s first Krusher Stunt Show. (Facebook) It’s been nearly 20 years since Gaskin first hopped on a dirt bike. The sport of FMX has grown significantly over the last decade and a half to a point that Gaskin has been able to make his passion his career. “I started doing BMX when I was a young kid and about 13 I started riding dirt bikes,” Gaskin recalled. “I started jumping ramps in 2004 in the beginning of freestyle when ramps came around and did tricks and stuff and demos and competitions. “I’ve been around for a while but wasn’t really doing it professionally then and like six-years ago I flipped the switch and said, ‘I want to take this to the professional level’ and I did and got out there and trained my butt off and got to this level.” Gaskin currently travels around making appearances at shows and competitions. The adrenaline rush he receives performing in front a crowd is quite different than the rush he feels when perfecting his craft away from the spotlight. “There is a little bit more of a rush of fear when you try new stuff because you’re going into the unknown,” Gaskin said. “In front of a crowd you’re going to be doing stuff that you already know you can do, stuff that you’ve practiced and that you’re ready to perform for people and land it safe. “It’s kind of like you want to show off when you get to the show.” Posted by Geoff Gaskin on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 The Krusher Stunt Show is a first-of-its-kind for Mohawk Park. The homestretch approaching the finish line of the racing surface will receive an overnight transformation to host this Sunday’s Stunt Show. Equipment for the show, including sky-high ramps, have already arrived at the Milton, Ontario racetrack. The Krusher Stunt Show will feature Motocross, BMX and skateboarding stunts. “I’ve done Grandstand shows before and it’s always a great time because especially with this show we’ve got a lot of different action sports,” Gaskin said. “You’ve got all fans of all different disciplines, so it brings in more people and more variety.” The plans for Sunday’s show have been kept on the downlow and although Gaskin wasn’t spilling any secrets, he believes fans are in for a real treat. “It’s an action-packed show. It’s one show, non-stop action. We’ve even got some surprise acts in there that I was told not to talk about. If I can bring up the suspense for everyone going, we’ve got some surprises and great talent coming in.” The Krusher Stunt Show will be an interactive event, as fans will have the opportunity to line up for autographs and meet their favourite performers. Mingling with the fans and shaping the future of extreme sports is Gaskin’s favourite part of performing stunt shows. “After the show I think it’s all about meeting fans. It’s all about showing what extreme sports are about and what freestyle motocross is all about. The younger kids they look at us and probably think highly of us. When it’s an autograph signing or meet and greet they talk to us and ask us questions. I think that’s the best part of shows is being able to translate to the kids our knowledge or a little bit of something that can spark something into their passion.” Sunday sunset sliders?? #epic #sunset #joesbackyardcompound #landscape #blessed #mx #motocross #sunday #quebec #canada Posted by Geoff Gaskin on Sunday, August 19, 2018 This Sunday will be Gaskin’s first experience performing for Jagger Sports Co., the operator of Krusher Stunt Shows. Gaskin plans to wow the crowd at Mohawk, and although he wasn’t interested in revealing his full list of tricks, the highly-ranked FMX artist did offer a piece of advice for fans. “The crowd pleaser is always the back flip. I’ve got it in my bag doing backflips. Usually when the crowd gets loud enough, I start to do tricks while upside down rotating in the backflip.” Tickets for the Krusher Stunt Show are available on Ticketmaster and will also be available for purchase the day of the event. Doors open Sunday at 3 p.m. with performances taking place from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and make plenty noise for Gaskin and his fellow performers. “You can expect high-flying, adrenaline pumping tricks.” Share This:Share
