CAMPBELLVILLE, August 3 – Jan and driver Trevor Henry made a :26 final-quarter look as easy as possible en route to winning Thursday’s second leg of the Whenuwishuponastar Series at Mohawk Racetrack. A field of six rookie pacing fillies met up for the $14,000 second round of the three-week series. Rock N Roll Heaven filly Jan was made the 1/5 favourite on the heels of a 1:53.3 victory a week prior. The Dr. Ian Moore trainee lived up to the hype and got the respect you would expect for a heavy favourite. Jan was put on the lead by Henry and posted easy-fractions of :29, :58.4 and 1:27.2, before kicking home in :26 to win by a length and three-quarters in 1:53.2, which shaved a fifth off her previous mark. There was no change to the top-three finishers from a week prior, as Lady Grande and Nurse Pie Q once again finished second and third behind Jan. A $35,000 Harrisburg purchase, Jan is owned by Wilma and James MacKenzie of Ennismore, Ontario. The rookie pacing filly is now two for four with $19,180 earned. Jan will be searching for a sweep of the Whenuwishuponastar Series in next Thursday’s (August 10) final. Live racing continues Friday and Saturday night at Mohawk Racetrack.
