MILTON, February 15, 2019 – Tajmeallover stopped knocking and busted through to win Friday’s $30,000 Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The Jean Francois Gagne trained eight-year-old powered by rivals in the lane for not only her first Preferred victory, but also her first win at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Kendall Seelster headlined the field of six and was coming in off a win and victories in five of her previous six outings. The Rod Boyd trainee got away fourth and caught cover going into the far turn to sit third and three-lengths from leader Buttermilk Hanover, who cut out fractions of :28.3, :57 and 1:25.2. Tajmeallover followed Kendall Seelster’s every move and was fifth and five lengths from the top turning for home. In the stretch, Kendall Seelster grinded away to take the lead for a moment before Tajmeallover and Gagne surged by on the outside to win in 1:54.4. Double A Mint rallied from last to finish second by half a length. Kendall Seelster finished third, while Buttermilk Hanover was fourth. A daughter of Tajma Hall, Tajmeallover was making her seventh start at Mohawk Park and had finished in the runner-up spot in four of those previous six outings. Friday’s victory gives her a win and $32,650 earned in five starts this season. Tajmeallover had been the star pacing mare in Alberta over the last few seasons and is now a 49-time winner with career earnings of $383,033. She is owned by Gagne, Peter Van Seggelen, Carl Warnaar and Tapron Holdings Limited. A $2 win ticket on Tajmeallover returned $13.40. Live racing continues Saturday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Saturday is Frosty Fireworks and Family Fun Night and the evening’s 10-race card will start at a special post time of 6:45 p.m. Share This:Share
