MILTON, September 10, 2018 – Superstar trotting filly Atlanta will be honoured this Saturday (September 15) at Woodbine Mohawk Park for her victory in this year’s Hambletonian. The Rick Zeron trained three-year-old trotting filly will be competing in Saturday’s $340,000 Elegantimage, which is part of the $1.8 million Canadian Trotting Classic card. The first 1,000 fans to arrive at Mohawk Park for live racing will receive a special commemorative postcard featuring a Claus Andersen photo of Atlanta and driver Scott Zeron winning the Hambletonian. The postcard includes signatures from driver Scott Zeron and trainer Rick Zeron. Woodbine will also be serving a special cocktail in the Mohawk Harvest Kitchen, Trackside Bar and Terrace Buffet named ‘The Atlanta’. The drink is a Georgia Peach and $1 from each drink sold will be donated to the Milton District Hospital Foundation. Brad Grant, a co-owner of Atlanta, is a Co-Chair of the Milton District Hospital Foundation (MDHF). Fans can purchase ‘The Atlanta’ for $6 (plus taxes), while a non-alcoholic version of the drink will also be available for $4 (plus taxes). Her victory gave longtime Woodbine trainer/driver Rick Zeron his first Hambletonian title and former Woodbine leading driver Scott Zeron his second. The Woodbine Cares team will also be kicking off a 50/50 raffle Saturday to raise funds for the MDHF. Doors open Saturday at 5:30 p.m. and fans will be able to pick up their Atlanta postcard near the program desk on the main level. The first 300 fans will receive a free program. The second annual New Owners Seminar will also take place ahead of Saturday’s card. The seminar begins at 6 p.m. in the North America Cup room and is open to anyone interested in learning more about racehorse ownership.
