MILTON, November 23, 2018 – On Thursday evening, Horsepeople and Industry Participants gathered in the Woodbine Mohawk Park winner’s circle to honour Bill Gale. A member of the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame, Gale passed away on Monday at the age of 70. 6,375 career wins, $42 million in career earnings, 2 Breeders Crown titles, 16 consecutive $1 million + seasons, 1991 Canadian Driver of the Year and 2015 Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame inductee. Gale recorded 16 consecutive $1 million-plus seasons from 1982-1997. Gale was inducted into the Windsor/Essex County Sports Hall of Fame in 2000 and the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2015. Members of Gale’s family, including his wife Janice of 47 years, son Jason (wife Veronica) and daughter Jennifer (partner Jeremy) were on hand Thursday at Mohawk Park for the moment of silence. Bill is survived by his siblings, Ron Gale (Mitzie), David Gale (Rosa), Larry Gale (Cheryl) and Dianne Copping (late Bill Copping) as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
