CAMPBELLVILLE, June 2 – This weekly feature offers a look back at the best Standardbred performances of the week by the Pepsi North America Cup eligibles. #10 – Ohmygosh Hanover on Monday, May 30 at Mohawk Racetrack, Race #10 – In a conditioned race for four year olds and younger, who are non-winners of two races or $24,000 lifetime, the Casie Coleman trainee rallied in the stretch from fourth to come on for second, clocking his own mile in 1:52.2. #9 – Townslight Hanover on Tuesday, May 31 at Yonkers Raceway, Race #10 – Townslight Hanover won a conditioned race for non-winners of four races or $40,000 lifetime, in 2:02.2 at a distance of 1 1/16 miles. In a gate-to-wire effort, the gelding won by one length for trainer Aaron Lambert. #8 – Roll With Joe on Saturday, May 28 at The Meadowlands, Race #2 – Roll With Joe won his sophomore debut in a non-winners of three races or $35,000 lifetime condition race for trainer Edward Hart. Driver Brian Sears and the Cams Card Shark colt stopped the clock in 1:51.3. #7 – Watermelonwine on Saturday, May 28 at Georgian Downs, Race #8 – The $50,000 Upper Canada Cup consolation went to the David Menary-trained Watermelonwine. Driver Rick Zeron and the son of Life Sign got under the wire in a career-best clocking of 1:49.4. #6 – Dutch Richman on Saturday, May 28 at Balmoral Park, Race #8 – Dutch Richman won his Cardinal Stakes elimination for trainer Erv Miller with his son, Marcus, in the sulky. Over a sloppy track, the gelding won by two lengths in 1:52.3. The trip to the winner’s circle with the bay gave Marcus one of his six wins on the 13-race program. #5 – Fashion Delight on Sunday, May 29 at Tioga Downs, Race #8 – Driver David Miller and Fashion Delight captured the $289,925 Empire Breeders’ Classic for three-year-old colt and gelding pacers for trainer James Campbell. The son of Bettors Delight won by a neck in 1:50.2 over fellow N.A. Cup eligible, Feel Like A Fool. #4 – Western Alumni on Thursday, May 26 at Mohawk Racetrack, Race #8 – The Bruce Goit-trained Western Alumni won a conditioned race for four year olds and younger who are non-winners of two races or $20,000 lifetime. The three-year-old son of Western Hanover-Countryview Miss stopped the teletimer in 1:52.4, a new lifetime mark. As the 4-1 third choice, he paced home in a final quarter clocking of :27.3. The six and three-quarter length victory pushed the Camluck colt’s lifetime earnings to $1,061,670, making him one of harness racing’s newest millionaires. #2 – Betterthancheddar on Monday, May 30 at Mohawk Racetrack, Race #6 – In a scorching 1:49.2 clocking, Betterthancheddar won his third lifetime start for trainer Casie Coleman as the even money favourite. Brett Miller drove the sophomore colt home in a :26.3 final quarter. He won by 10 and three-quarter lengths over fellow N.A. The James ‘Friday’ Dean trainee got under the wire in 1:51, winning by two lengths. The victory gave the bay millionaire status, increasing his lifetime earning to $1,046,580 for owner Jim Carr.
