TORONTO, April 28 – After a one-year absence, four two-year-old stakes events are returning to the Mohawk stakes calendar. The Dream Maker and Whenuwishuponastar, for two-year-old colt and filly pacers, will return in July. On the two-year-old trotting side, the Define The World (formerly Bridger) and Pure Ivory (formerly In Free) will also re-appear in August. Nominations are also due for a pair of sophomore events, the Summertime and Town Pro. There are numerous sustaining payments that are due for the circuit’s major stakes events, including the $1 million Pepsi North America Cup, $685,000 Metro Stakes, etc. Payments must also be kept up on the 2015 Champlain Stakes, Champlain Filly Stakes (for two-year-olds) along with the Simcoe Stakes, Simcoe Filly Stakes and WEG 2016 SBOA Stakes (Standardbred Breeders of Ontario Association). All nominations and sustaining payments are due on Thursday, May 15. The start of the 102-date Mohawk meet is scheduled for Thursday, May 22.
