TORONTO, September 24 – A new wager will be introduced when Standardbred racing returns to Woodbine on Thursday, October 1.
A Standardbred Pick-5, which will offer a 20-cent bet minimum and a 15% takeout, will be added to the betting menu, kicking off nightly in Race 1 and be paid out every card.
The Standardbred Pick-5 requires fans to select the winner of the first five races on the program on one ticket.
"The Standardbred Pick-5 is an attractive proposition for our core fan base with its low bet minimum and low takeout," said Greg Martin, Senior Director of Wagering Operations for Woodbine Entertainment Group (WEG), which will host the 2015-2016 Premier Standardbred racing season in Ontario at Woodbine through March. “Players will have the flexibility to use many horses in multiple races affordably with the 20-cent minimum presenting a chance at a lucrative payoff instantly.”
The Standardbred Jackpot Pick-6, a wager that was added for the 2015 Mohawk meet, will offer a mandatory payout this Tuesday, September 29, the final card of the campaign and be discontinued. The current carryover is $8,623.84.
The popular Jackpot Hi-5 bet, with its large mutuel pool and low takeout, will continue nightly and currently offers a carryover of $284,450.84. There will not be a mandatory payout on the ‘Hi-5’ at the end of the Mohawk meet.
