MILTON, December 19 – Woodbine Entertainment welcomes Great Canadian Gaming Corporation (GCGC) and Clairvest Group Inc. (Clairvest) to Mohawk Park following the announcement this morning by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG).
In a newly formed partnership called Ontario Gaming West GTA Limited Partnership, GCGC and Clairvest were selected by OLG to run the West GTA Gaming Bundle, which includes Mohawk Park in Milton, Ontario.
With a new Gaming Service Provider as an anchor tenant on the site, Woodbine Entertainment has engaged renowned urban designer and landscape architects, SWA Group to develop a master plan for the 434-acre property. The broadened development will include facilities to support expanded entertainment, specialty interactive concepts, family friendly recreation, unique-to-region destination uses including office, retail, integrated green space, as well as hotel, hospitality and diverse dining options.
The selection of the GCGC and Clairvest, follows a series of announcements earlier this year, including the move to year-round Standardbred racing on the site, and more than $10 million in upgrades to facilitate winter racing. Additionally, Woodbine Entertainment unveiled a company-wide rebrand including the Mohawk Park site name, where the racetrack will be rebranded Woodbine, Mohawk Park when it re-opens in April 2018.
“We are excited to welcome Great Canadian Gaming and Clairvest to Woodbine, Mohawk Park as together, we will create an integrated entertainment destination for the Town of Milton and surrounding region, supporting the future of Standardbred racing on the site,” said Jessica Buckley, President, Woodbine, Mohawk Park. “The investments we are making into the property will create an unrivalled harness racing experience complimented by other exciting, fan-friendly amenities.”
On August 8, it was announced that GCGC, Brookfield Business Partners and Clairvest, in a newly formed partnership (Ontario Gaming GTA LP), were selected by OLG to run the Greater Toronto Area Gaming Bundle, which includes Woodbine. With GCGC and Clairvest selected to operate gaming at Mohawk Park, the gaming at each site will operate independently with Woodbine Entertainment serving as the land owner and master developer for both sites.
