LongRun’s “Join Jim” Christmas Donation Campaign has Raised a Record $60,000 with More Than Two Weeks Left

December 13, 2019

TORONTO, December 13, 2019 – LongRun Thoroughbred Retirement Society is grateful to share that the annual Christmas donation campaign, which includes a pledge from Woodbine Entertainment CEO Jim Lawson to personally match up to $15,000 in donations, has already raised a total of more than $60,000 with two weeks left in the campaign.

“We are so grateful to everyone who has donated to this year’s campaign,” said Vicki Pappas, board chair and founding member of LongRun. “And a very special thank you to Jim Lawson for his personal pledge and the “Join Jim” campaign which has helped us set a record in donations. But we’re not done yet! There is still time to donate and we encourage others to join this record-breaking donation campaign. Any donation is greatly appreciated and goes a long way in supporting retired Thoroughbreds.”

The more than $60,000 raised to date includes a personal donation from Lawson of $15,000.

“This year’s campaign has surpassed all of our expectations and we couldn’t be more appreciative to everyone who has donated to this worthy cause,” said Lawson. “With our final weekend of Thoroughbred racing upon us, and Christmas just around the corner, we hope the generosity continues over the coming weeks.”
