MILTON, December 15, 2018 – Easy Lover Hanover extended his win streak to four with a victory in Saturday’s $34,000 Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The Ben Wallace trained five-year-old gelding defeated nine rivals in this week’s edition of the Preferred. Driven by Doug McNair, Easy Lover Hanover got away fifth and sat in mid-pack until approaching the half. Nirvana Seelster blasted to the lead to post a :27.1 opening-quarter before getting a soft second-quarter of :30.3. Easy Lover Hanover worked his way up to Nirvana Seelster’s wheel on the far turn with the original leader holding a lead of just over a length at three-quarters in 1:26.2. In the stretch, Easy Lover Hanover was too much for his rival to handle and powered home in :26.4 for a 1:53.2 victory. Nocturnal Bluechip finished second by a length, while Pointomygranson was third. Owned by Brad Grant, Easy Lover Hanover collected his eighth win of the season and 33rd of his career. The gelded son of Somebeachsomewhere has earned $211,940 this season to bring his career earnings to $793,449. A $2 win ticket on Easy Lover Hanover returned $3.70. McNair’s victory behind Easy Lover Hanover was one of four for Canada’s reigning Driver of the Year on the Saturday card. He also scored victories with Superficial ($45.80), Winning Lyric ($5.90) and Bills Fella ($4.80). The team of driver Jonathan Drury and trainer Carmen Auciello also had a big night, as they combined to win the final three-races on the card. The Drury/Auciello ‘Hat-Trick’ consisted of Big Bang Boom ($4), Always A Hotshot ($6.60) and Major Hill ($4). Live racing resumes Monday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
