Inside Track for October 17-18

October 19, 2026

A look at some of the top highlights from the past weekend of racing at Mohawk.

A Plante trio

Driver J.R. Plante, who eclipsed 3,000 career wins earlier this season, added three more to his lifetime tally on Saturday night at Mohawk.

The Burlington, Ontario-based reinsman made three straight trips to the winner’s circle, starting with D A Bodacious in race three, followed by Seen Here and Jack Panic in the fourth and fifth, respectively.

Plante is nearing $21 million in total purse earnings for his career.

Reeling them in

Barracuda Hanover captured the second pacing division of the $35,000 Ontario Harvest Series in dramatic fashion on Sunday evening.

The son of Bulldog Hanover, out of the Bettors Delight mare Bettors Chance, thwarted a spirited late challenge from Windor with a :26.1 final quarter to reach the wire a nose clear.

Trained by Donald Lindsey, who co-owns the bay with Paul Kleinpaste, and William Alempijevic, Barracuda Hanover improved to 5-7-4 from 27 lifetime starts ($105,180).

At 8-1, he paid $19.

Daffy does it in style

Todd Coleman’s Daffy Hanover delivered a personal best-tying 1:53.2 mile to emerge victorious in Sunday’s penultimate contest.

The hearty race 10 triumph by three-quarters of a length marked Daffy Hanover’s fifth win of the season and eighth from 58 starts overall (8-9-10; $142,995).

A 4-year-old daughter of Bar Hopping–Dangle Then Deke (by Cantab Hall), Daffy Hanover is trained by Hall of Famer Doug Brown.

Sent off at 10-1, she paid $23.80.
