World Driving Champ MacDonald Down Under

December 8, 2017

CAMPBELLVILLE, December 8, 2017 – Being the world champ is fun, just ask James MacDonald.

The 2017 World Driving Champion is currently adding to a memorable 2017 with a trip down under to compete in an International Drivers Series.

Currently ranked fifth in the Woodbine driver’s standings, MacDonald (aka Captain Canada) made his name known across the harness racing world by defeating 10 other drivers in the World Driving Championship this past August.

Representing Canada on home soil was a special moment for MacDonald, who won an event leg at his home track of Mohawk and sealed the World driving title in his home province of Prince Edward Island at Charlottetown Driving Park.

Gaining notoriety across the harness racing world for his victory, MacDonald and fellow World Driving Championship participant Marcus Miller (USA) were invited to Gloucester Park in Perth, West Australia to compete in the Perth International Drivers Series.

The Drivers Series took place during the conclusion of the Inter Dominion Series, Australia’s biggest harness race, on December 1st and December 8th.

A total of 13 drivers competed in four-races, two on each night, and MacDonald held his own by picking up a victory in the third-heat, which was held on Inter Dominion Final night in front of a raucous crowd.

MacDonald finished fifth-overall in the Series.

Take a look below at some of the social media highlights from MacDonald’s trip to Australia and keep an eye out in the coming week for a chat with the World Driving Champ about his journey.
