Just like in her elimination last week, Dreamfair Eternal and Randy Waples used first-over tactics to capture the $372,000 Milton Stakes Final in 1:50.3 at Mohawk Racetrack.

Southwind Tempo (Tim Tetrick) swept to the lead before the opening quarter in :26.4 from post seven. As the field marched towards the half, Tug River Princess was not content positioned third and cleared to the lead for driver John Campbell passing the half in :55.2.

As the field entered into the final, Waples moved Dreamfair Eternal to the outside from fifth with On The Glass right on behind.

As the went past the three-quarter pole in 1:23 and turned for home, Tug River Princess tired and gave up the lead to Dreamfair Eternal. In the late stages of the mile, A Ps Money Maker and Rick Zeron used a late rush but could only settle for second as Dreamfair Eternal was victorious for owner John Lamers with Ginger And Fred third.

In the winners circle, Waples had nothing but praise for the millionaire daughter of Camluck.

"If I had my choice to drive any mare in that race Dreamfair Eternal is the one. I’ve been lucky enough to drive some really good mares in my career and I don’t like to compare them but she is the best mare that I have ever driven and overall she would be top three," Waples commented.

"It kind of worked out that way (the trip). You really don’t want to be first over against these kind of mares but she doesn’t seem to mind it. I’m more tentative of first-over than she is but she really likes it and hunt them down that way and be strong at the end.

"She doesn’t really have that gate speed so you don’t want to get away to far back and give the race away. It just worked out and with a mare like her she just seems to accept it and thrive off of it."

Dreamfair Eternal now has career earnings of $1,427,735. She paid $6.20 to win.
