New Image Media Bringing the Sting Stingray Deo and driver Mark MacDonald worked overtime for their 32-1 nose win in Saturday’s final dash. Trained by Garry Merner, the 3-year-old son of Perfect Sting led for most of the way before giving up the lead in late stretch before battling back for the gritty triumph in 1:49.2. Plante, the Gerard Demers trainee (he also owns) was ninth after the opening quarter, eighth after three-quarters and then sixth at the stretch call, before bursting to the lead en route to a three-quarter length triumph in a career-best 1:52.1.
