MILTON, January 19, 2026 – Doug McNair made a blustery winter evening a night to remember by reaching the 5,000-win mark on Monday at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The 36-year-old reinsman entered the evening just two wins shy of the career milestone. McNair cashed in with his first drive of the night (Race 3) by guiding four-year-old pacer Volcanic ($7.10) to victory for his father Gregg McNair. His next drive (Race 6) didn’t go according to plan thanks to a broken equipment break in the first turn by pacer Carsonsbuckngo. McNair didn’t have to wait any longer than that to reach the milestone, as he guided Wicked Express ($2.40) to a gate to wire score in the evening’s eighth-race for trainer Kyle Fellows. A resident of Guelph, McNair has ranked among Canada’s very best since launching his career in 2008. He reached 1,000 career wins in December of 2010, becoming the-then youngest driver in harness racing to reach the milestone. The 2017 season saw McNair named Canada’s Driver of the Year at the O’Brien Awards, while in 2018 and 2022 he won the National Driving Championship. McNair has won multiple Breeders Crown events, including one this past October at Woodbine Mohawk Park with The Last Martini. He finished the 2025 campaign with 258 wins and $6.8 million in earnings to mark his 12th season with over $5 million in seasonal earnings. In total, McNair has career earnings of $95 million to go with 5,000 wins. Live racing resumes Friday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park. Post time is 6:15 p.m. Share This:Share
