CAMPBELLVILLE, July 20 – This weekly feature offers a look back at the best Standardbred races and/or performances of the week at Mohawk.

#5 – Monday, July 18; Race 6 – Hurrikane Kingcole (Cams Card Shark-Blazing Yankee) is the nation’s fastest freshman after scoring a 1:51.3 victory.  The Des Tackoor pacer scored his first lifetime win in gate-to-wire fashion by a whopping seven lengths with Luc Ouellette in the bike.

#4 – Friday, July 15; Race 9; Armbro Flight elim – The Rick Zeron-trained and driven Miss Dangles upset in the second Armbro Flight elimination.  The four-year-old mare also notched her first win of the season, getting under the wire by half a length in a lifetime best clocking of 1:53.1. The daughter of Ken Warkentin-Kimberly Coe paid $34.20 to win.

#3 – Friday, July 15; Race 3; Armbro Flight elim – Sent off at 1-5, Buck I St Pat and driver Sylvain Filion captured the first Armbro Flight elimination. The eight-year-old trotting mare showed some late speed in the stretch. She stopped the teletimer in 1:52.4, winning her first race of the season for trainer Ron Burke.

#2 – Saturday, July 16; Race 6; Roses Are Red elim – Laughandbehappy upset in the lone Roses Are Red elimination in a record-equaling performance. The Tony O’Sullivan trainee not only notched her sixth win this year, but she equaled A Ps Money Maker’s track record of 1:49.1 for aged pacing mares. The five-year-old daughter of Badlands Hanover-Zinful paid $19.80 to win. Click here to read more.

#1 – Saturday, July 16; Race 3; Maple Leaf Trot Prep – Lucky Jim beat the heavy favourite San Pail in the Maple Leaf Trot prep race.  The pair dueled in the stretch, but the Erv Miller-trained Lucky Jim, proved to be too much for the two-time Maple Leaf Trot winner. Driver Jody Jamieson and the six-year-old gelding got under the wire in 1:52.2. He paid $10.70 to win as the second choice. Click here to read more.
