Trainers discuss NA Cup eliminations weekend

June 6, 2019

MILTON, June 6, 2019 – The Pepsi North America Cup eliminations will take place this Saturday evening at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

A total of 18 three-year-old pacing colts and geldings were entered and have been separated into a pair of nine-horse $50,000 eliminations. The top-five finishers from each split will advance to the $1 million final on Saturday, June 15. Elimination winners earn the right to select their post.

Trainers Tony Alagna, Brian Brown and Ron Burke have provided their thoughts on some of their weekend competitors with Ken Weingartner (USTA Media Relations Manager).

Alagna took time to chat about undefeated three-year-old trotter Pilot Discretion, who will start in Friday’s Goodtimes eliminations.

Burke will be sending out three starters in Saturday’s Cup eliminations (Captain Victorious, De Los Cielos Deo and Semi Tough). He chatted about his prospects, as he looks to capture his second Pepsi North America Cup (JK Endofanera, 2014).

Brown is back for another Cup try after winning in 2017 with Fear The Dragon and finishing second last year with Done Well. He’ll send out the duo of Air Force Hanover and Workin Ona Mystery in Saturday’s splits.
