What to wear at the Queen’s Plate

While there is no “official” dress code for the Queen’s Plate, it is encouraged that guests dress up to take it the complete horse racing experience.

Comfort is key on Day One of The Queen’s Plate Racing Festival weekend. Dig out your favourite plaid shirt or keep it simple with a plain tee. Add something denim and great pair of cowboy boots or flats and you’re just about set to go. Top your style with great accessories like layering necklaces, statement jewelry, hats or bandanas!

Think summer garden party, pastel colours, light materials and unique accessories. Make a bold statement by mixing patterns and adding pops of colour. For women, find the perfect summer dress or jumper, add a great pair of wedges or chucky heels and top off with a great hat or fascinator and bold sunnies.

For men, dig out that statement jacket you’ve been waiting to wear, add a great pair of fitted pants and finish off the look with a pair of Oxford shoes or Boat Shoes for added comfort. To upgrade your look even further, mix in a bow tie, a great pocket square or flower and even go for the fedora if you’re feeling up to it.

One caveat – guests with tickets to the Woodbine Club, Northern Dancer or Royal Enclosure seating section are required to dress business casual. Gentlemen are required to wear a jacket and tie with a collared shirt. Ladies are encouraged to wear a hat or fascinator and to dress for a smart occasion – please refrain from wearing strapless, off the shoulder, halters and/or spaghetti straps. Running shoes and branded or promotional clothing is not permitted.
