2022 EVENT HIGHLIGHTS AT WOODBINE MOHAWK PARK

A YEAR FULL OF ACTION, EXCITEMENT, AND FUN

The finest three-year-old pacers in Standardbred racing met at the 2022 Pepsi North America Cup. The 39th edition of Canada’s richest harness race returns to its regular summer position and will feature the $1-million classic headlining an outstanding $2 million-plus card of racing.

The Mohawk Million is Standardbred racing’s richest race for two-year-olds. To compete in the Mohawk Million, an owner must purchase a slot at a cost of $100,000 or have a horse win the William Wellwood Memorial. A total of ten two-year-old trotters will line up behind the gate in this seven-figure contest.

The heavyweights of Standardbred racing will meet at the 2022 Canadian Pacing Derby and Maple Leaf Trot. The Canadian Pacing Derby in Canadian harness racing’s oldest stakes race, launched in 1936, while the Maple Leaf Trot has been contested since 1950.

The Metro Pace is harness racing’s premier race for two-year-old pacers. An annual launching ground to greatness, the Metro Pace will see the sport’s rising stars battle for a rich purse.

The sport’s best three-year-old trotters will battle in the Canadian Trotting Classic. A marquee race annually on the trotting stakes calendar, the Canadian Trotting Classic will see the finest trotters across North America converge on Woodbine Mohawk Park.

The $6.7 million (USD) Breeders Crown, harness racing’s richest and most prestigious year-end divisional championship series, returned the last weekend of October 2022 to Woodbine Mohawk Park. A total of 12 championship races were contested over the weekend, with divisional and Horse of the Year supremacy on the line.
