MILTON, November 9, 2018 – Kendall Seelster delivered another stunning performance to defeat older rivals for the second consecutive week in Friday’s $30,000 Mares Preferred Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park. The three-year-old daughter of Shadow Play and driver Sylvain Filion shot off cover in the lane and stormed home to a 1:52.4 victory over five older mares. Trained by Rod Boyd, Kendall Seelster rallied last week from seventh to record his first win over older mares and Friday she took all the support, going off at odds of 2/5. The daughter of Shadow Play got away fifth and caught the cover of P L Hurricane heading to three-quarters. Windsongmagnifique cut out fractions of :27.3, :55.4 and 1:24.1 to lead into the lane. Kendall Seelster swelled up on cover and powered by rivals for a victory of three-quarters of a length. Request For Parole followed the favourite to a second-place finish, while Windsongmagnifique held on for third over Exhilarated. Kendall Seelster now has seven wins and $231,165 earned in 18 starts this season. Her career numbers now sit at 11 wins and $695,150 earned for owner 1187422 Ontario Inc. A $2 win ticket on Kendall Seelster returned $2.90. Round two of the Harvest Series wrapped up Friday with two $17,000 divisions for Ontario sired three-year-old pacing colts and geldings. Phantom Seelster will have an opportunity for a series sweep following a convincing 1:53.3 victory in Friday’s second division. Trevor Henry steered the Richard Moreau trainee to his second consecutive victory. A gelded son of Mach Three, Phantom Seelster left from the far outside and was parked around the first turn, while even-money choice Mission Three posted a :28.1 opening-quarter. Phantom Seelster cleared to the top in the second-quarter and posted a :57 half. Mission Three popped the two-hole on the far-turn to challenge Phantom Seelster, who reached three-quarters in 1:25.2. In the stretch, Phantom Seelster turned aside his rival and charged home in :28.1 to prevail by a length and a half over Mission Three. Foot Solider crossed the line third, while Stratosphere was fourth. Phantom Seelster entered last week’s opening-leg winless in 14 starts this season. The Moreau trainee captured a division of last week’s first leg by five lengths and was driven by Bob McClure, who drove Mission Three on Friday. Owned by Gestion Mastel Inc, Conrad Leber and Marcel Barrieau, Phantom Seelster increased his career numbers to five wins and $75,185 earned with Friday’s score. He paid $4.50 to win. Shadow Play colt Shadow Moon prevailed in a tight Win Photo over round-one winner Westslucky Terror in the evening’s first division. Driven by Doug McNair, Shadow Moon got away third in the field of seven to follow a pocket-sitting Westslucky Terror, while Bit Of Luck did the heavy-lifting on the front. Shadow Moon got his cue to go on the far turn and pulled up alongside Bit Of Luck at three-quarters in 1:24.4. In the stretch, Shadow Moon powered by Bit Of Luck, but then had to deal with a patient Westslucky Terror and a closing Hes Got Swagger. Shadow Moon held off Westslucky Terror by a nose for the 1:53.2 victory. Hes Got Swagger finished third, beat half a length, while Delorean Seelster was fourth. Trained by Kyle Fellows, Shadow Moon picked up his second win of 2018 and has now earned $39,335 in 19 starts this season. The sophomore colt’s career numbers jump to seven wins and $234,672 earned for owners Fellows, Arpad Szabo and Daniel Knechtel. A $2 win ticket on Shadow Moon returned $5.10.
