An LPR grand slam

Louis-Philippe Roy knocked it out of the park with a driving grand slam on Saturday night at Mohawk.

The Campbellville, Ontario-based reinsman began his scoring barrage with Silver Detector in the fourth before striking thrice more with Whatchulookin At (15-1) in the sixth, Maize and Blue in the seventh, and Blazing Cruiser in the card’s 12th and final fixture.

Each of Roy’s four victories came for different trainers.

Winning prescription

Dr Dave put on a clinic in Saturday’s eighth at Mohawk, picking up his first win since April 18.

With driver Tyler Jones in tow, the bay son of Cattlewash–Mystic Dance showed tremendous grit to ward off a late-charging Walters Nip (4-1) and reach the wire a head clear.

Dr Dave’s second win from 12 starts this season stands as his third from 18 starts overall (3-2-2; $60,255) for trainer Francis Dumouchel, who co-owns the 3-year-old pacer with Jenna McNiven Stdbrd, and John Nizlek.

At 15-1, Dr Dave paid $32.60.

Driven by Travis Cullen, who won three races (fourth, fifth and sixth) on the card, the 4-year-old daughter of Bar Hopping won by a head in a lifetime-best mark of 1:53.2.

Bred by Hanover Shoe Farms, the bay is now 6-6-8 from 46 starts, accompanied by $90,805 in purse earnings.

Daffy Hanover paid $29.50 for the win.
