Inside Track for July 4-5

July 6, 2026

Sunshine State of mind

Florida Guy kicked off Sunday’s card by lighting up the tote board at 47-1.

A 4-year-old son of Alarm Detector, Florida Guy had a nose for the wire, quite literally, winning by the slimmest of margins while earning a speed badge of 1:53.3 in the process.

Sporting a record of 7-4-3 from 29 starts, along with $103,320 in purse earnings, the Katarina Bosnjak trainee is owned by Jjs Stables and was bred by Glengate Farms.

Florida Guy paid $96.70 for his latest win.

Matching set

Two weeks after setting a new watermark of 1:48.3, Ecurie CSL’s Jordy N matched that figure in a 1 ¾-length triumph on Saturday at Mohawk.

Paired with driver J.R. Plante, the 9-year-old son of Bettors Delight–Floyover was simply too much to handle in the night’s ninth contest.

The victory was Jordy N’s third from 21 starts this season (3-6-5) and worth the largest cheque the bay has collected on Canadian soil ($15,000).

As the 8-1 fourth choice, he paid $19.80.

Do it like Dalton

Veteran Always B Miki pacer Dalton Shard N closed out Saturday’s 12-race card with a hearty half-length score.

The 7-year-old bay, trained by Francis Guillemette, has fit right in on the Ontario circuit, posting three wins and a second in four starts since arriving from his native New Zealand.

Owned by Dalton Shard Group, Dalton Shard N now stands at 13-12-4 with over $246,000 in purse earnings across 68 starts.

Sent off at 3-1 on Saturday, he paid $8.10.
