MILTON, August 3, 2020 – Captainofrocknroll cruised to a coast-to-coast victory in Monday’s second leg of the Dream Maker Series at Woodbine Mohawk Park. A trio of scratches brought the field for the second round down from 11 to eight. Trainer Casie Coleman-Herlihy’s students made up more than a third of the field and didn’t disappoint by taking three of the top four spots. Captaintreacherous colt Captainofrocknroll left from the centre of the gate to grab the early-lead for driver Bob McClure. The $50,000 Harrisburg graduate cut out fractions of :28.3, :57.3 and 1:25.4, before pacing home in :27.2 while holding off stablemate Twin B Edge by half a length for a 1:53.1 score. Island Beach Boy, who won a first leg division, finished third, while Coleman Herlihy’s third starter Amazing Bet was fourth. Captainofrocknroll is now two for two at Mohawk Park and two for three overall. His only loss was runner-up finish in a Pennsylvania Sires Stakes division on July 22 at The Meadows. Robert Hamather is the owner-breeder of Captainofrocknroll, who is the first foal from former Mares Preferred competitor Rock N Roll Xample ($370,055). The rookie pacing colt has now earned $31,116. He paid $3.40 to win. Coleman-Herlihy appears loaded with talent for next week’s $88,500 final. Her trainee Dean B Hanover skipped Monday’s second leg after scoring a 1:52.1 victory in last week’s opening round. The Dream Maker Series final takes place next Monday (August 10).
