TORONTO, November 15 – This weekly feature offers a look back at the best Standardbred races and performances of the week at Woodbine.

MAGICICAL MOMENT

#5 – Saturday, November 12; Race 3; OSS Super Final 2YOCT – Driver Sylvain Filion and Prestidigitator found the winner’s circle after getting under the wire in 1:56.3 in the freshman trotting colt Super Final. The Dustin Jones pupil used front-end tactics to secure the eight and a quarter length victory.

MCNAIR’S FIRST ‘SUPER’ WINNER

#4 – Saturday, November 12; Race 10; OSS Super Final 3YOCP – Driver Doug McNair took home his first Super Final trophy after guiding Camaes Fellow to victory in the glamour boy division.  The Tony O’Sullivan trainee stopped the teletimer in a new lifetime best of 1:50.1. Camaes Fellow paid $8.20 to win as the second choice.

SUPER ‘NEEDY’

#3 – Saturday, November 12; Race 2; OSS Super Final 2YOCP – The Carl Jamieson-trained and Jody Jamieson-driven Warrawee Needy romped in his Super Final, crossing the wire nine and three quarter lengths ahead of his foes. As the odds-on favourite, the divisional leader won in gate-to-wire fashion in 1:50.3.

MORE ‘MULA’

#2 – Saturday, November 12; Race 8; OSS Super Final 3YOFP – Driver Randy Waples and Waasmula pulled off a shocker in her Super Final, defeating the divisional leader and Breeders Crown champion Monkey On My Wheel, who was the heavy favourite.  At odds of 15-1, the Bruce Goit trainee rallied from off-the-pace to score the lion’s share of the purse, taking the race by a nose in 1:51.2. Waasmula paid $33.10 to win.

‘MISTER’ SPEEDY

#1 – Saturday, November 12; Race 5; OSS Super Final 3YOCT – Mister Herbie put forth a sizzling 1:52 stakes, track and Canadian record performance in his $300,000 Super Final. With driver Jody Jamieson in the sulky, the Jeff Gillis trainee scored the triumph by eight and a half lengths. Mister Herbie paid $8.90 to win as the second choice.
