$6.7 Million Breeders Crown Draws 174 in Woodbine Mohawk Park Fall Championships

CRANBURY, NEW JERSEY, October 18, 2022– Entries for the $6.7 million Breeders Crown events saw 174 of the sport’s top trotters and pacers enter to qualify for the rich finals on Friday, Oct. 28 and Saturday, Oct. 29 at Woodbine Mohawk Park. All purses are US dollars.

There were 66 2-year-olds entered, yielding seven $25,000 eliminations in all divisions for Friday, Oct. 21. Those freshmen who chose to take byes and elimination fields will be available this afternoon. All 2-year-old finals have a purse of $600,000.

With 12 entered in the $600,000 2-Year-Old Filly Trot, Win And You’re In bye holder Instagram Model goes straight to the final. Righteous Resolve took the single bye offered to the highest money earner of the remaining entries. A 10-horse elimination will race with the top eight fillies advancing to the final.

Entries of 19 freshmen trotting colts, including Win And You’re In bye holder Kilmister forces two nine horse eliminations to advance the first four finishers and the fifth-place finisher with the highest seasonal earnings, as compiled by Standardbred Canada (including elimination earnings) to create a field of 10 for the $600,000 2-Year-Old Colt Trot Final.

The $600,000 2-Year-Old Colt Pace (20) and $600,000 2-Year-Old Filly Pace (15) will have full eliminations on Friday to arrive at fields of 10.

In the sophomore divisions, both the $600,000 3-Year-Old Colt Trot (17), $600,000 3-Year-Old Filly Trot (20) and $600,000 3-Year-Old Colt Pace (16) will have eliminations conducted for those divisions.

The $350,000 Mare Pace with 14 entries also races two seven horse eliminations to advance a field of 10 for Oct. 29.

The following races will go straight to Oct. 29 finals:

  • The $600,000 3-Year-Old Filly Pace (11)
  • The $600,000 Breeders Crown Trot (11)
  • The $350,000 Mare Trot (8)
  • The $600,000 Breeders Crown Pace (11)

Two-year-old eliminations will be held Friday, Oct. 21 and the sophomore and open divisions requiring eliminations will race Saturday, Oct. 22. Elimination winners and Win And You’re In horses draw for inside post positions 1-5. Post positions will be drawn on Friday and Saturday after the elimination races, with the exception of those race drawn at the Tuesday, Oct. 25 press conference. Post time is 7:00 p.m. on Friday and 7:00 p.m. for Saturday.

Complete elimination and final fields will be available when byes and elimination draws are finalized.
