Inside Track for September 13-14

September 15, 2025

A look at some of the top highlights from the past weekend of racing at Woodbine.

Life in the Fast Lane

Corsia Veloce stayed true to her winning ways Saturday at Woodbine, capturing the $500,000 Johnnie Walker Natalma Stakes (G1T) to remain perfect through three starts.

Riding high after a triumph of the Catch A Glimpse Stakes on Aug. 16, the 2-year-old daughter of Practical Joke–Beth’s Bling came flying for home to reach the wire a half-length ahead of the competition.

The impressive display not only gave rider Fraser Aebly his first Grade 1 victory, but also earned Corsia Veloce a spot in October’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar.

Bred (in Ontario) and owned by Glenn Sikura (Hill ‘n’ Dale Farms) and Mario Serrani, Corsia Veloce (12-1) paid $26.50 in the Natalma.

Punch It In

A late push across the line was enough for Argos to score the top spot in Saturday’s $500,000 bet365 Summer Stakes (G1T) at Woodbine.

In a thrilling display from start to finish, the rookie Nyquist colt earned every bit of his first stakes tally – and spot in October’s $1 million Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf at Del Mar.

After racing mid-pack for most of the one-mile contest, the 2-year-old bay bred by Green Lantern Stables, LLC delivered a strong charge to beat 1.65 favourite Wild Desert (IRE) to the wire by a head.

Trained by Riley Mott for owner David Romanik, Argos (6-1) paid $15.70.

Soup-er of the Day

Souper Diva wasn’t satisfied after winning last month’s Muskoka Stakes, so she went back for seconds with a dazzling display in Sunday afternoon’s $100,000 Victorian Queen Stakes at Woodbine.

Operating out of post three, the 2-year-old Steven Chircop charge took command of the 6 ½-furlong sprint early and never relented for the smooth two-length decision.

Now a multiple stakes winner, the dark bay bred by Northern Dawn Stables Inc., has found the winner’s circle three times from five starts.

At 2-1 in the Victorian Queen, Souper Diva paid $6.10.
