The 2026 The Laurel Park “DeFrancis Dash Day” Handicapping Challenge Tournament is an online handicapping tournament played with “real money”. The tournament is open to players in North America through their HPIbet accounts in Canada and Xpressbet in the United States.

Registration Details

  • Registration Opens: Friday, June 19, 2026
  • Registration Closes: Friday, June 26, 2026, at 03:00 p.m. E.T.
  • HPIbet members can enter through the Registration Page after signing into their accounts.
  • US Players can enter and pay through XPRESSBET.

Please Note:

  • Must wager on a minimum of five (5) Laurel races. No maximum.
  • $50 minimum bet per race. No maximum.
  • Wagers less than the minimum $50 bet will be allowed PROVIDED THAT, at the end of the contest, the player has the requisite minimums of 5 Laurel races at $50 apiece.

Prizes’ Details

All entry fees will be returned as prizes. All prizes listed are approximations. Exact prizes will be determined by the exact number of participants.
Based on 120 entries, total prize pool is $30,000. The prize pool include:

  • ONE BCBC Full Seat ($10,000 value)
  • TWO NHC Prize Packs ($5,850 value) – includes $400 flight voucher and hotel stay)
  • Top 5 Split $8,300 Cash

  • At the conclusion of the contest, the top finishers (in order of finish) will select their seat

Please Note: To enter the Laurel Park “DeFrancis Dash Day” Handicapping Challenge, the buy-in is $500 USD ($250 USD for bankroll + $250 USD towards prize pool).

Eligible Races:

  • All races from all live Laurel Park Saturday, June 27th, 2026
  • Select Monmouth Park races (only those that run before the final Laurel race)

Final Race:

  • The contest ends with the last race at Laurel Park

Bet Types Allowed:

  • Win, Place, Show
  • Exacta
  • Daily Double

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must wager on at least 5 Laurel races
  • Minimum $50 per race
  • No maximum betting limit

Flexibility on Bet Amounts:

  • Bets under $50 are allowed during the contest,
  • BUT totals must equal at least $50 per race across 5 Laurel races by the end

Monmouth Park Races:

  • Optional only
  • No mandatory wagers required

Q. Are there any mandatory races to wager on?
A. No. There will be no mandatory races; however, it is required that contestants must wager on a minimum of five (5) races with a minimum bet of $50 USD race (Ex. $20 Win, $20 Place, and $10 straight exacta = $50 USD).

A. Laurel races only

Q. Can I wager on more than 5 races?
A. Yes, you may wager on more than 5 races.

Q. What type of wagers can I make?
A. Pools are Win, Place, Show, Exacta, Daily Double

Q. Can I wager with my winnings?
A. Yes, money earned from winning wagers can be reinvested.

Q. Can I wager on more than one horse per race?
A. Yes, you may wager on more than one horse per race.

Q. I’ve placed my bet, but my Balance on the BCBC leaderboard didn’t go down due to my bet. Why?
A. The leaderboard will only reflect wins and losses. Once the results are official, the leaderboard will show either a drop (by the amount of your bet) due to a loss or a rise (by the amount of your winnings) due to the win.

Q. I’ve placed my bet, watched my horse win, but the BCBC leaderboard doesn’t reflect my actual Balance or winnings. What’s wrong?
A. From the point that results become official, there is a 4-5 minute delay before the leaderboard is updated.

Q. I’ve won a prize in the Tournament. How do I get my prize(s)?
A. Following a 72-hour post-Tournament audit of the winners, to ensure all requirements have been met and that all bets were within the constraints of the Tournament rules, you will be contacted by a representative of Woodbine Entertainment Group with instructions for claiming your prize(s).

Q. Can I keep using my HPIBet Tournament Account (Canadian customers only)?
A. We will withdraw all the funds from your Tournament Account and transfer those funds to your regular HPIbet account.
