TORONTO, April 12, 2018 – Opening Day of Woodbine’s 2018 Thoroughbred meet on April 21 will mark the start of an eventful racing season at the Toronto racetrack. In addition to offering live world class horse racing from April 21 to December 16, Woodbine will be hosting a variety of events throughout the meet. The excitement of Woodbine’s marquee race days featuring the stars of the sport will be intensified by live concerts, delicious dining experiences, on track promotions and more. The Woodbine Oaks Presented by Budweiser on June 9 is the first signature stakes weekend of the season followed by the prestigious Queen’s Plate, part of a three-day festival on Canada Day long weekend, Canadian Millions Stakes Day, Breeders’ Stakes, Ricoh Woodbine Mile and Pattison Canadian International. Woodbine’s popular Horseplayer Tournaments return in 2018 with Spring, Mid-Summer, Woodbine Weekend and Woodbine Mile contests offering cash prizes and seats in the National Horseplayers Championship and Breeders’ Cup Betting Challenge. Fans and horse lovers will have numerous opportunities this season to get up close and personal with the sport’s equine athletes and go behind-the-scenes at Woodbine for morning workout sessions and backstretch tours. Woodbine will once again join forces with its valued community partners for Best Buddies Canada Day, the William Osler Walk N Roll, Rexdale Summer Games, Turf Races and Road Hockey to Conquer Cancer. In addition to Woodbine’s own Derby Day Party coming up on the first Saturday in May, The Social Concierge and Vancouver’s Parade Agency will bring the contemporary lifestyle event called the Greenwood Stakes to Toronto on May 26, inviting dapper gentlemen and stylish ladies to pop bottles of bubbly and enjoy games of chance during an afternoon at the races in the Trackside Tent. The Style Stakes best dressed competition, delectable food offerings, live throwback jazz and funk music, Toronto’s top mixologists, a luxury vehicle showcase and pop up art gallery are all part of the festivities. Tickets are now on sale at www.greenwoodstakes.com, starting at $75. The Trackside Tent will also be the site of Art Battle, a live international painting competition, this summer on July 14. Complete with a DJ and host, the head-to-head art battle features three 30-minute rounds followed by a fan vote to determine the artists who move on to the championship. A cash bar and Woodbine’s Food Truck will be available trackside. Tickets go on sale April 21 with special early bird pricing of $10. General admission tickets will be $15 starting July 7 and $20 at the door. To purchase tickets, visit www.artbattle.com/ca/.
