An EJW Grand Slam
Emma-Jayne Wilson had herself a stellar Saturday, winning four races on the nine-race card. The multiple graded stakes winning rider won the first race with Miss Bobbit, the second with Hekla’s Aura, the fourth with C C’s Kingdom and the ninth with Ready Lady.
Makes ‘Sense’
Six Sense, under Kazushi Kimura, made it two straight scores to start her career. Owned by LNJ Foxwoods and trained by hall of famer Josie Carroll, the 3-year-old daughter of Violence got up in the final strides to eke out a neck victory in the 6 ½-furlong Tapeta race. The dark bay was bred in Kentucky by Fountain of Youth Breeding LLC.
‘Rebel’ with a cause
Reload’s Rebel, a 5-year-old son of Reload, is now two-for-two for his career. The bay gelding, bred by Double R Racing and trained by Michelle Love, notched a half-length win at 6 ½ furlongs over the Tapeta on Sunday. He paid $5.30 for the victory.
A King’s Plate date?
Stanley House, a dark bay son of Army Mule, stamped himself as a legitimate King’s Plate contender with an impressive win on Sunday at Woodbine. Under Luis Contreras, the colt finished with a flourish to take the 1 1/16-mile Tapeta race for owners John and Diana Russell.
Four score for Casse
Dual hall of fame conditioner Mark Casse had a super Sunday, sending out four winners on the afternoon. My Boy Prince started the parade to the winner’s circle in the fifth, followed by Victoria’s Chief in the sixth, Palazzi in the eighth, and Moonquest in the tenth.
Worth repeating
“Two performances stood out to me on Saturday. The first one was C C’s Kingdom, who has turned out to be a terrific $10,000 claim. He rarely runs a bad one. Six Sense is an exciting prospect for LNJ Foxwoods. Once she got her stride extended, she came home powerfully. Looks like she could be a stakes-caliber filly down the line.” – Woodbine on-air host and analyst Jeff Bratt.
Worth watching
Pedigeek, with Patrick Husbands in the irons, worked overtime to net a head win in Saturday’s fourth race, a 1 1/16-mile Inner Turf tilt for fillies and mares, 3-year-olds and up.
Worth knowing
Stakes action returns next weekend with the running of the $100,000 Ballade on Saturday and the $100,000 Alywow on Sunday.
