My Boy Prince and jockey Sahin Civaci scored in Saturday’s 86th running of the Cup and Saucer Stakes. Trainer Mark Casse has now won the Cup and Saucer Stakes seven times, including four of the last five years.
First Timers
Jockey Ryan Munger secured his first Stakes win at Woodbine in the $125,000 Glorious Song in a last-to-first triumph with A Little Frisky. It was the 2-year-old filly’s first win.
Series Finale
Sunday’s ninth race was the longest race of the year (about 1 3/4 miles on the E.P. Taylor Turf Course) and the final leg of the Turf Endurance Series. Marty Drexler-trained Prideofdistinction upset and paid $47.30 to win.
Apprentice Weekend
After apprentices Cheyenne Kerr and Fraser Aebly got their first Woodbine wins on Thursday and Friday, Pietro Moran scored his first career win with Trizzel Trazzel in Saturday’s 11th race.
