An online panel focused on data and technology and the role it plays in horse racing today, and into the future TORONTO – September 9, 2020 – Leading up to the 161st running of The Queen’s Plate, Woodbine Entertainment is excited to participate in a Hockey Analytics Night in Canada (HANIC) online panel exclusively focused on horse racing and the pivotal role data and technology play in the sport today and in its future. Scheduled for Thursday, September 10 at 7 p.m., the online panel will include live tutorials and demos on 2Minutes2Post and Dark Horse, Woodbine Entertainment’s new horse racing app that uses data and artificial intelligence to simplify wagering on horse racing to attract the next generation of fans and horseplayers. 2 Minutes 2 Post is an online portal that uses data and algorithms to predict the outcome of horse races. The tutorials will look at last weekend’s Kentucky Derby results and look ahead at predicting the outcome of The Queen’s Plate which will run at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto on Saturday, September 12. Moderated by Meghan Chayka and Alison Lukan, HANIC X Horse Racing will also include a panel discussion with Chris Lush (Senior Vice President, Technology, Wagering & Broadcast Woodbine Entertainment), Pat Cummings (Executive Director, Thoroughbred Idea Foundation) Pete Solano (CEO and Co-founder of 2M2P), and Andrew Solano (Vice President, 2M2P and Co-founder) who will dive deep into the importance of embracing data and technology to advance a sport into the future that is steeped in rich history and tradition. Peter Solano, Chief Executive Officer, 2Minutes2Post Peter Solano co-founded 2M2P with his brother Andrew in 2017 and is responsible for business and technology operations to grow and support the company. Mr. Solano also works in the financial industry in New York City serving as Executive Vice President and Chief Information Security Officer, and has an extensive technology background specializing in a variety of Microsoft technologies. Mr. Solano graduated from SUNY Oneonta in 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Sociology and holds several Microsoft Certifications. Andrew Solano, Vice President, 2Minutes2 Post Andrew Solano co-founded 2M2P and is responsible for product development, design, and customer relations. As a horse racing enthusiast and avid handicapper, Andrew brings a unique perspective to company strategy and product presentation. Andrew also has a versatile career in the Advertising Industry in Washington DC and New York City, and a graduate from SUNY Cortland 2010 with a B.A. degree in Public Relations. Patrick Cummings, Executive Director, Thoroughbred Idea Foundation Since its launch in 2018, Pat Cummings has been the Executive Director of the Thoroughbred Idea Foundation, a think tank and advocacy group for Thoroughbred horse racing. Prior to taking this role, Pat was an executive with the Hong Kong Jockey Club, leading their racing public affairs team for three years, and before that, was director of racing information for technology and data provider Trakus. Originally from Philadelphia, he spent seven years with mutual fund giant Vanguard before pivoting to racing, a lifelong passion. Pat earned undergraduate degrees from Dickinson College in 2002 and obtained his MBA from Baylor University in 2011. He now resides in Lexington, Kentucky and owns several horses in partnerships with Brilliant Racing Chris Lush, SVP Technology, Wagering and Broadcast, Woodbine Entertainment Since originally joining Woodbine Entertainment as the Senior Vice President of Information Technology Chris’s portfolio was expanded to include Wagering and Broadcast. Chris has been responsible for increasing the Global wagering footprint for Canadian simulcast product and introducing innovation and change to the broadcasting environment. He also runs a series of initiatives surrounding innovation to evolve and improve both the product and delivery model for pari-mutuel wagering — including sponsoring the transformation to mobile wagering for horse racing in Canada. Prior to joining Woodbine, Chris spent over 20 years leading technology in the investment and finance space including serving as Head of Technology Delivery for the Toronto Stock Exchange as well as leading Technology Infrastructure for HSBC Securities Canada.
