Sheri Riddoch Handicaps Race 6 on Sunday, October 18

October 16, 2026

After perusing through Sunday’s card, the race that stood out to me the most for opportunity
was the 6th on the outer grass course. Mother Nature has been kind to us this season as we
haven’t had to take many races off the turf. The forecast looks amazing…let’s enjoy while we can.

Sunday Race #6

Top Selections: #2 Yoshi 2-1

While I have landed on this fella for my top choice, I do with hesitation as I think there are a
couple others that could really threaten him for top honours, so I do not feel as confident as I
would like. Forgive his last outing as even though it was a compact field, it was a tough one and
Eyes on The King and Kekoa came out of that race to run first and second next time out. He
gets in light with 5lb apprentice Douglas sticking with him, and this jockey/trainer combination
have a 27% success rate this meet. His sire was a dual surface G1 winner, and while he is a
four-time winner, I don’t think we have seen the best of him yet.

#1 Adir

Looks a big threat to me, as he was disqualified last out after a very gutsy gate-to-wire
win. Hernandez just may be back for vengeance. Also, he can rate if a pace duel unfolds on
the front which looks likely on paper. Very nice morning line value at 9-2, must include.

Wildcard: #3 Gone With Duwyn 12-1

3yr old gelding by Silent Name has been a bit puzzling as he is always around, but just hasn’t
been able to take that big step forward. I’m not reading too much into his dirt experiment in the
Lake Erie down at the border oval as his mid-pack finish was ok, but what’s interesting is My
Covenant came out of that race to win the new Sophomore Stakes last weekend. Now,
he gets on the E.P. Taylor course for the first time since his debut where he checked in 7th in a
tough MSW that was won by Awesome Connection, who went on to compete in stakes
competition in Kentucky. Silent Name gelding has much more racing experience under his belt
since then. Wake-up possibility.

Longshot: #9 Extraordinary One 20-1

Been a long time since this fella has visited the winner’s circle, Aug 28, 2025, at Saratoga, to
be exact. The race that caught my eye with him though was back on July 19 where he was
third to Shak Town and Zio Cavallo, both of those competitors have won since that event. We
get “longshot Juan” in the irons, so you know he will give this guy the best chance, and for the
big price we will probably see (expect higher than 20-1), he’s worth using under in your tickets.

The Play: $2 exacta 1,2/1,2,7,8,9 = $16 $1 trifecta $2/1,7,8,9/1,7,8,9 = $12 if bankroll allows
(could also play in $0.60 or $0.20 increments).

Good luck and safe trips for all.
