The season-opening race card kick started a lucrative 2022 campaign with 97 stakes races which include the $1 million Queen’s Plate on Sunday, August 21 and the $1 million Ricoh Woodbine Mile on Saturday, September 17.
The Woodbine Oaks, presented by Budweiser, will feature Canada’s finest three-year-old fillies. A race filled with history, the Oaks is the first leg of the Canadian Triple Tiara Series.
The 163rd running of the $1 million Queen’s Plate is the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown. North America’s oldest continuously run stakes’ event, The Queen’s Plate showcased Canada’s top three-year-old thoroughbreds and is one of Canada’s premier sport events of the year.
The Ricoh Woodbine Mile is part of an epic Turf showcase weekend at Woodbine. The Mile attracts a world-class field to battle in the $1 million race on the famed E.P. Taylor Turf Course. The Ricoh Woodbine Mile card is joined by the Pattison Summer Stakes and Natalma Stakes, all part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series.
The 131st running of the Breeders’ Stakes is the third and final jewel of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown. The final leg of the Crown is contested at 1-1/2-mile over the famed E.P. Taylor Turf Course, testing the endurance of the three-year-old competitors.
