The season-opening race card kick started a lucrative 2023 Thoroughbred stakes program with more than $17 million in purses, including 39 graded stakes, five Grade 1 events, and two $1 million classics, The King’s Plate and Ricoh Woodbine Mile.

The Canada Day Racing Festival featured five graded stakes, including the $200,000 Gr-II Highlander Stakes and $175,000 Gr-II Nassau Stakes.

The 164th running of the $1 million King’s Plate is the first jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown. North America’s oldest continuously run stakes’ event, The King’s Plate showcased Canada’s top three-year-old thoroughbreds and is one of Canada’s premier sport events of the year.

A day of elite turf racing, style, dining, and more. This day features three Graded Stakes Races, as well as free and premium experiences.

The Ricoh Woodbine Mile is part of an epic Turf showcase weekend at Woodbine. The Mile attracts a world-class field to battle in the $1 million race on the famed E.P. Taylor Turf Course. The Ricoh Woodbine Mile card is joined by the bet365 Summer Stakes and Johnnie Walker Natalma Stakes, all part of the Breeders’ Cup “Win and You’re In” Challenge Series.

The 132nd running of the Breeders’ Stakes is the third and final jewel of the OLG Canadian Triple Crown. The final leg of the Crown is contested at 1-1/2-mile over the famed E.P. Taylor Turf Course, testing the endurance of the three-year-old competitors.
