Circle of Friends streaks into Ontario Jockey Club

July 12, 2017

TORONTO, July 12 – Circle of Friends rides a three-race win streak into Friday’s $100,000 Ontario Jockey Club Stakes, at Woodbine.

Trained by Robert Tiller for owner 3 Sons Racing Ltd., Circle of Friends is undefeated in 2017 on a streak that started with a smart graduation score on April 21 in a five furlong maiden allowance sprint. The Midnight Lute gelding, out of She Ain’t Much, returned to win again on May 6 when stretching out to six furlongs and last time out, when sprinting 6 1/2-furlongs on June 3, prevailed by a neck while earning a career-best 90 Beyer Speed Figure. Leading rider Eurico Rosa da Silva returns.
On Friday, Circle of Friends will tackle a field of seven sophomore foes when sprinting six furlongs on the Woodbine main including maiden winner Mill Road, OBS Sprint champ Uncle B and multiple stakes winner Lokinforpursemonee.
Mill Road, trained by Catherine Day Phillips, finished fourth in his June 4 debut after a slow start but came right back to romp by 7 3/4-lengths when sprinting 6 1/2-furlongs on the Tapeta. That effort earned a field-best 93 Beyer number. The talented individual, by Quality Road out of Holy Eclair, is sibling to stakes winners Get Rhythm and Seduire. Patrick Husbands retains the mount.
Uncle B, trained by Nick Gonzalez, boasts a record of two wins and three seconds from seven starts. The Zensational grey has finished second in a trio of added-money events including the Swynford, the Texas Glitter (at Gulfstream Park) and the Woodstock. Emma-Jayne Wilson has the call.
Lokinforpursemonee is the leading money earning in the field with $270,092. The Silent Name bay, trained and owned by John Ross, owns a record of 3-2-1 from nine starts and has wins in the Simcoe and Woodstock Stakes to his credit. Luis Contreras will ride.
