Clocker Report: Horses to watch this weekend

​TORONTO, April 20 – Each week, Woodbine’s head clocker Ernie Perri will comment on some of the top workouts watched, highlighting horses to key on in upcoming races at Woodbine.

[Track ratings based on a scale of 1-5 with ‘1’ being the slowest.]
Saturday, Race 8 The Woodstock Stakes – Marten River
Ernie said: "On April 1, Marten River worked out of the gate in :48 flat. He caught splits of :23.4 and out in 1:01.60. Standing up very high in the irons, very easy breeze. Subsequently out worked Marten Lake. Track rated 4."
Saturday, Race 7 – Zap Cat
Ernie said: "On April 9, Zap Cat worked on the training track in 1:01b. New to the scene, winter trained. Liked the way he moved. Dirt track very fair, rated a 3."
Saturday, Race 9 – Phil in the Blank
Ernie said: "Phil in the Blank worked in :47 flat on April 1 and galloped out in :59.80. He has been moving up the ladder very nicely. Loves the distance. Worked after the harrow break. Track rated as a 4."
Sunday, Race 9 – Signature Spring
Ernie said: "On April 15, Signature Spring worked in 1:00 and out in 1:12. He was very eager in this work. After the break, track rated 3.5."
