Clocker Report: Horses to watch this weekend

September 9, 2017

TORONTO, September 9 – Each week, Woodbine’s head clocker Ernie Perri comments on some of the top workouts watched, highlighting horses to key on in upcoming races at Woodbine.

[Track ratings based on a scale of 1-5 with ‘1’ being the slowest.]

Saturday, Race 1 – Thora Barber (GB)
Ernie said: “Thora Barber (GB) worked on August 25 in 1:01.20 for Casse. Worked after the break, track was slow rated a 4. She out-worked stakes winner Uchenna by about three lengths.”

Sunday, Race 8 – Lisa’s Escarpment

Ernie said: “Lisa’s Escarpment worked on August 6 in :49.20b with Contreras up for Josie Carroll. She worked on the training track turf course listed as good with the dogs well out. Two even quarters of :24.60. Pretty good looking move from a visual standpoint.”

Sunday, Race 6 – Nurmi
Ernie said: “Nurmi worked on September 3 in 100.80b. After the break, the track even rated a 3. Strictly a long shot play as this work was much better than past works.”
