Inside Track for November 22-23

November 24, 2025

A look at some of the top highlights from the past weekend of racing at Woodbine.

Who’s the boss?

It was a stakes debut to remember for freshman filly Bossy Candy, who looked wise beyond her years in a confident triumph of the $150,000 Shady Well Stakes, Saturday at Woodbine.

Working under rider Rafael Hernandez, the 2-year-old daughter of Candy Ride (ARG)–Casey’s Dreamin’ allowed the six-furlong main track tilt to develop before making a play for the lead.

When that time came with 125 yards to go, Bossy Candy took control and edged away for the two-length tally.

Bossy Candy is now 1-1-0 from two starts ($76,751) for owners Gregory Tramontin and Michael Stevens.

Bred by A & A Farms and W. S. Farish, she paid $4.30 as the Shady Well’s even-money choice.

Hat trick time

Make that three straight trips to the winner’s circle for Foresters Exec after a hard-fought victory in the 11th on Woodbine’s Saturday program.

Operating out of post eight for trainer Patrick Dixon, the ascending Old Forester filly found herself hovering around the middle of the 10-horse pack deep into the 5 ½-furlong dash.

Fighting through six wide at the furlong pole, Foresters Exec found a seam and won the sprint to the wire by a head.

Up to 4-2-0 from 11 starts for owner/breeder Colebrook Farms (Ontario), Foresters Exec, at 28-1, paid $58 even.

Fits the bill

Duckduckduck, at 36-1, peaked at the right time to take the $150,000 Clarendon Stakes, Sunday at Woodbine.

Fresh off a maiden-breaking score on November 1, also at Woodbine, the 2-year-old Silent Name (JPN) gelding benefitted from a patient approach by rider Emma-Jayne Wilson, reaching  the stretch drive full of run and ready to pull away for the 2 ½-length triumph.

The impressive outing in his second stakes appearance pushed Duckduckduck to 2-1-0 through four starts for owner Sue Leslie and trainer Evette Chartrand-Hoek.

Wilson, a multiple graded stakes winner, won her first stakes race (and 132nd overall) after a recent return from injury.

Duckduckduck paid $74.50.
