King’s Plate Prospect Watch by Ernie Perri

June 4, 2023

Woodbine Head Clocker and Oddsmaker Ernie Perri offers up a look at a handful of King’s Plate (August 20) prospects who have caught his eye.

Courtly Ro, a 3-year-old filly for trainer Kevin Attard, has been working with Gold Magic and getting the better of him lately. Fillies have done really well in this race.”

Poulin in O T for Steve Owens has been working extensively. His latest work was in a strong :59.60 from the gate, beating company. He is on track for some good things this year.”

Midnight in Malibu for hall of fame trainer Sid Attard last worked on May 28 in :59.40. This colt is cast as a longshot, currently being only a maiden-breaker. He has been showing potential in the mornings. We will keep an eye on his next start.”

Stanley House for Mike DePaulo was a sharp maiden-breaker at Gulfstream. He came back here with a strong second against older horses and has been working very well.”

Twin City for trainer/co-owner Stuart Simon was on my top five horses to watch this year. He had been working well this spring and ran really well to win the King Corrie in a gutsy effort. He will get better with longer distance races.”
